Meet Our Highland Cattle
At Maple Valley Highlands, we are committed to breeding high-quality Highland Cattle and offering unique Adelaide Hills experiences. Join us for an unforgettable experience where you can interact with the gentle and photogenic Highland Coos, learn about their care, and gain insight into their fascinating history. We are members of the Australian Highland Cattle Society.
Located just outside of Macclesfield, under 20 minutes from Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills.

What to expect from our highland experiences
You will be greeted upon your arrival, and you will be guided out to introduce you to the fold, learning about their personalities, their care and their life on the farm. After that, you will be guided to meet two of our Highlands where you can cuddle, scratch, brush and feed the coos while discussing the history of Highland Cattle, some interesting facts about Highlands and our plan here at Maple Valley. Along the way, you might see some other animals we have here on the farm being, Black Angus Cattle, Donkeys, Goats, Pigs, Chickens and Quails. There will be plenty of photo opportunities using your personal cameras or phones. This will be a walking tour with the Highland's never far from where you'll be greeted.
Your session is fully private, with no other bookings scheduled at the same time.
Please note, on severe weather days experiences could be rescheduled due to the wellbeing of yourselves and our animals, severe weather is considered to be days of heavy rain and days above 35 °C for Mount Barker SA. On Extreme and Catastrophic (total fire ban) Fire Danger Rating days for the Mount Lofty Ranges, experiences will be rescheduled.
A liability waiver form will need to be signed by every participant before proceeding with the experience.

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear appropriate for a walking tour on a working farm, handling animals and weather conditions.
Farm stay with the Cattle
Nestled on the border of the Hills and the Fleurieu, our farm offers unique accommodation managed by my father-in-law. It's the perfect base for exploring various Adelaide Hills experiences, and after your adventurous day, you can unwind at our accommodation, which overlooks our Cattle in the surrounding paddocks.
